JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT SERIES
The Sunshine Coast Junior Development Series (JDS) is an important program in the player development pathway on the Sunshine Coast. The series features tournaments stretching across the whole region giving beginner and intermediate players a competitive environment in which they can hone their skills. Throughout the year players will compete for trophies, prizes, and ranking points. Picking up points throughout the year will be the key to the ultimate prize; Rockhampton, where a select few will represent their region at the State JDS Finals.
The Series features 10/U Green Ball & 8/U Orange Ball events which utilize a 75% & 50% compression ball respectively to maximise rally length, court craft, swing patterns and increase fun. Other divisions include 11/U, 13/U, 15/U and 17/U.
The State JDS Finals are held in Rockhampton. 16 players in total will compete against other regions in Queensland to ultimately be crowned State Junior Development Series Champions. For full point standings and selection details, please click here.
All information will be available on our Tennis Sunshine Facebook page. Like Tennis Sunshine Coast Facebook and follow tennis Sunshine Coast here.
For 2015 the Facebook site will be the central point for all information regarding the series including weather updates. If you haven’t got a Facebook account be sure to create one here for free so that you can stay up to date with all the information.
Please note that the 2015 Sunshine Coast JDS events are open to all male and female tennis players aged between 10-17 years old as at 31 December 2015. The series has a different age eligibility rule than Junior Tour events. The reason for this is that the series does not finish until October, so players entering events in February-September must still be eligible to compete in the same age group if they make it through to the JDS State Final in October.
